Plantd’s Support for EARTH DAY 2024

this is for earth day 2024

Over 20 million Americans across several different states rallied together to engage in numerous environmental activities such as beach clean-ups, recycling, parades, peaceful protests, street fairs, educational programs, and tree-planting efforts. From community-based outreaches growing into a nationwide demonstration, the first Earth Day was born on April 22, 1970. It went on to spark the passing of the National Environment Education Act, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and many more. Plantd’s support for Earth Day 2024 will focus on matching and doubling the number of trees from our subscribers, support the many projects globally that are focused on reforestation efforts.

Every year on April 22, people across the globe come together as a reminder of how one seemingly small act from one individual can grow into a collective movement a movement that, to this day, holds the power to enact great change in the world.

The Forest Recovery efforts in the Mauna Kea Forest Reserve in Hawaii is one of the many new Projects that Plantd wants to support. The main focus is to be able to restore the habitat for the endangered “Palilal Bird”. It is also aiming to restore the forests in the area by planting more trees. Since 2010, there have been over 70,000 seedlings that have been planted, with a survival rate of 68%. More recently, Plantd has donated its own share of seedlings to be able to help the project in its activity to match the number of trees planted by its subscribers.

This project concentrates on the efforts to restore and enhance the longleaf pine ecosystems. It will benefit all wildlife species within the Significant Geographic Areas (SGAs). These include the red cockaded woodpecker, Louisiana Pine Snake, the Bachman’s sparrow, and more. It benefits a large number of plant species threatened by urbanization and fire supression. Plantd will also plant trees for this project as part of its Earth Day 2024 efforts.
