Senegal Agroforestry Project: Restoring Land & Empowering Communities.

At Plantd, we are committed to sustainability, reforestation, and fostering a greener future. This Earth Month, we are thrilled to announce our latest initiative: the Senegal Agroforestry Project in Dakately, Senegal. This groundbreaking project is set to plant 60,000+ trees and restore over 23 hectares of degraded forest land while empowering local communities through sustainable agriculture.

The Urgent Need for Agroforestry in Senegal

Senegal’s conventional agricultural model, particularly peanut monocropping, has led to soil degradation, biodiversity loss, and climate change acceleration. Despite past conservation efforts, forests like Ndankou and Patte remain under threat due to expanding agricultural activities. The Senegal Agroforestry initiative aims to reverse these harmful effects by restoring forest land, implementing sustainable farming practices, and providing economic opportunities for local families.

    Project Highlights & Community Impact

🌳 60,000+ Trees Planted: Restoring the land and increasing biodiversity.
🌱 23+ Hectares Reforested: Bringing life back to degraded landscapes.
👩‍🌾 1,200+ Hours of Local Work: Supporting communities through employment.
🌾 30% More Productive than Monocropping: Ensuring long-term sustainability.

Our project isn’t just about planting trees; it’s about creating lasting change. By working with 6,000 farming families to rehabilitate degraded land, each family benefits from sustainable farming methods that protect the environment while improving their livelihoods.

    Women-Led Sustainability & Economic Resilience

One of the most exciting aspects of this initiative is its direct impact on women in rural communities. Agroforestry provides women with the opportunity to cultivate high-value crops like honey, fruits, and vegetables, diversifying their income streams. By moving away from single-crop farming, these women gain economic independence, food security, and resilience against market fluctuations.

A Global Effort for a Greener Future

As we celebrate Earth Day and Earth Month, this project serves as a call to action for individuals and organizations passionate about sustainability. Every tree planted and every hectare restored is a step toward a healthier planet. Agroforestry is more than an environmental solution—it is a community-driven approach to reforestation that fosters economic stability, climate resilience, and ecosystem restoration.
