Plantd is so excited to announce our Tesla Giveaway Winner, Dylan Holdren! Dylan has wanted a Tesla from a very young age, and although he chose the monetary prize equivalent, he shared with us that he still plans to become a Tesla owner, in addition to a few other things he has in mind.

“I have wanted a Tesla since I was 12 years old and having an interest in rocks, bugs, plants and all things in the natural world shaped me into a lifelong conservationist. The year was 2013, and the word “Tesla” was more than a buzzword to me. Many dismissed EVs as impractical or limiting, but in Tesla I saw the future, and I wanted to be part of that. I told my father that I wanted a Tesla for my first car, so he happily obliged the following year and got me a Hot Wheels black 2014 Tesla Model S for Christmas. When I found Plantd through an ad on Instagram, I was excited because in addition to planting trees every month I could enter to win a Tesla at the same time, this is what makes Plantd unique; by supporting tree planting initiatives you are granted entries to win awesome prizes! I love the work that Plantd does, and it really means a lot to me to be part of the community because conservation is an integral part of my life. My father and I planted many trees together, mainly maples and sycamores and he was always willing to help me with my environmental projects. He made my first ever trash picker and took me to the parks and rivers to clean up plastic bottles and trash. Sadly my father passed away in 2019 of lung cancer but with the help of my family and friends, we raised enough money to plant 3,000 trees around the world in his memory. Trees are the lungs of the earth, purifying the air, water and soil and serving to improve the quality of life for all living things so to me, planting trees is among the most profound ways to honor life and appreciate the splendor of the natural world. The exponentially good impact tree planting has on ecosystems, benefits life from the ground up starting with beneficial soil microbes, all the way up the food chain to birds which call them home, insects which find shelter and food in the leaves and foliage, and humans who harvest fruits, sit in the shade and breathe easier under the verdant canopy.”

I am both grateful and lucky to have won the Plantd sweepstakes, and I’m really excited to be able to live the green lifestyle of my dreams! I subscribed monthly which in addition to planting trees, also got me entries to win prizes. I opted to enter the Tesla drawing with my entries because I have wanted a Tesla since I was 12 and I thought I’d throw my hat in the ring. It feels really good to be able to do good while also having a shot at winning awesome prizes. I believe this community is going places, and even though I won, I’m going to be a Plantd subscriber for life! I am always amazed to see the progress that has been made in EV adoption. I am from a small town in Appalachia and there are days when I am on my way to work and I will pass two or three Teslas. Clean urban air has always been important to me, as someone who has asthma, anything that can be done to improve air quality and reduce the amount of pollution sources in our communities, I am all for it. I think EVs are an important key to making real change, by driving EVs we reduce the number of pollution sources (every gas powered car being a mobile “source point” of pollution) as well as integrating solar power into our homes, even if it is only to charge the EVs. The amount of monetary savings, and reduction in direct pollution that enters urban air will go a long way in improving the lives of people, especially in small towns and lower income regions. That is why I am both grateful and lucky to have won the Plantd Tesla giveaway, and I am really excited to be able to live the green lifestyle of my dreams!”
